This book is to consolidate all the Units of the Syllabus of Human Resource Development to help the students and teachers to easily understand the concepts of HRD. Our attempt through this book is to provide crisp, clear and easy to understand concepts of HRD which will help them during the preparation of their examination. The text book is part of the M.Com syllabus of Ranchi University and also shall prove to be informative for BBA, BBM, B.Com, MBA and MPM students. The first edition of this book consists of three units associated with Human Resource Development namely its Introduction, HRD Processes that are commonly used and Activities and Application of HRD. Human Resource Development is the part of human resource management that specifically deals with training and development of the employees in the organization. This book provides an understanding of the concept of Human Resource Development (HRD) system, related mechanisms and the changing boundaries of Human Resource Development (HRD).

Dr. Mukund Chandra Mehta is an Associate Professor, in the area of Commerce in the University Dept. of Commerce and Business Management, Ranchi University, Ranchi with more than 22 years of teaching experience and 12 years of administrative experience. He has completed his Ph.D. from Department of Commerce, Ranchi University and M.Com from the same university. Dr. Mehta is working as the coordinator of Institute of Management Studies and Coordinator council for vocational studies, Ranchi University, Ranchi. Currently he is Director of Journalism and Mass Communication department and also worked as the Director of Institute of Management Studies, Ranchi University, Ranchi. Under his guidance seven research scholars are awarded Ph.D. degrees and ten research scholars are registered for their Ph.D Degree. He has attended and presented various papers in National and International Seminars/ Conferences. He has written five books and published more than twenty five research papers in various journals and books. He has chaired various National and International Conferences.

Smt. Doel Kar is a Postgraduate alumnus of Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, where she did her Masters of Science in Information Technology. She also holds a degree in MBA-HR. Presently, she is pursuing her Ph D in Management from Ranchi University, Ranchi. She started her career as a guest faculty in reputed colleges like Birla Institute of Technology Lalpur Extension, Ranchi. In a professional career spanning over 15 years, currently she is engaged with one of the leading consulting firms in their Smart Cities practice focusing on ICT projects at a city level. Apart from her corporate career, owing to her inclination towards academics, she has been actively involved in authoring and presenting papers in various International and National Seminars. She has also been a resource person in several Orientation and Refresher Courses of colleges and UGC’s Human Resource Development Centre.
