Description

About the Book

This publication is one of the analytical products and it is intended for policy-makers and practitioners, as well as scholars and researchers of innovation in governance and the public at large. Its aim is to provide interested Governments with both conceptual and policy tools to select and adapt innovations.

This book has been divided into three main sub-themes of governance. Section-1 Towards Good Governance analyses the innovations in good governance, E-Governance, Digital Governance, M-Governance, citizens’ charter and smart cities initiative in Chandigarh. Section-2 Governance, Gender Issues and Social Development examines the role and participation of women representatives in urban governance, janani suraksh yojna and governance, gender equality, role of women directors in corporate governance, influence of ‘religion’ on muslim woman’s access to professional education, governance issues, challenges and strategies with special reference to transgender community. Section-3, Governance Reforms deals with governance reforms in India, leadership ethics, corporate governance in India,

Since good governance is not a “one-time” exercise, but a continuous process of refinement, re-assessment of strategies and practices as well as incremental institutional development, I hope that this publication will contribute in supporting and improving governance by providing key ideas and useful tools for the transfer of best practices and innovation in governance.
